FOI Request - FNR-2021-15538 Documentation, records pertaining to Mounts Rose and Swanson (historically known as Armstrong Mountain or TeeTee) generated or received by the Ministry between August 1, 1930 to December 31, 1981, including any request by a city, municipality or regional district, or the public, requesting or proposing a reservation (or purchase) of the 1780 hectares (4,398 acres) of Crown lands for public and/or municipal purposes (including for recreation or park) or to otherwise reserve these lands from alienation by way of homesteader grant or otherwise to private interests (including to resource extractive companies) and: documents pertaining to the forest fire at Armstrong Mountain (rose Swanson) of summer 1934, and in particular the correspondence (telegrams) to and from the township of Spallumcheen and any report of the fire ranger or ministry managers as to the Provincial effort in fighting this fire and covering the expense of same; All documents generated or received by the Ministry in connection with the Rose Swanson Sensitive Area, drawn by Order dating from October 1996 and of legal effect as of April 30, 1997. All documentation that goes to the public’s recreational interests set forth within the Order including but not limited to all documents that pertain to: recreational values; network of trails; visual qualities of the area; and all documents that pertain to the Ministry attending to its duties undertaken to protect and advance the public’s recreational interests in Rose Swanson, including but not limited to: maintaining and enhancing the network of trails used recreationists; protecting the visual qualities of the area; maintaining recreational values; and protecting the forest from vandalism and timber theft. from April 30, 1997 forward to December 31, 2020.
